The world's first patented rose (1930) and a global climbing rose icon. Masses of pale pearl-pink blooms create a breathtaking display. Repeat-blooming with outstanding cold and disease resistance. Hall of Fame.
Introduced in the USA in 1930 as the world's first patented plant, 'New Dawn' stands as a landmark in rose history and a World Rose Hall of Fame inductee. Its pale pearl-pink, medium blooms are produced in repeated flushes from spring through autumn — a rarity among the vigorous climbing roses of its era. Outstanding cold hardiness and disease resistance allow it to thrive in a wide range of climates, including partially shaded positions and even north-facing walls. Canes extend 3–5m, creating spectacular coverage of fences, walls, and pergolas. Winter management involves thinning old canes and training vigorous young shoots horizontally, which encourages lateral branches to flower along their full length. Deadheading after each flush promotes the next wave of bloom.
