Vibrant rose-pink large blooms with substantial petal texture, relatively rain resistant. AARS 1973. Sweet strong fragrance and excellent vase life make it popular for cutting.
Bred by Sam McGredy (Ireland) in 1970 and an AARS winner in 1973, 'Electron' is a hybrid tea of substantial quality, recognized for its vibrant deep rose-pink blooms with notably thick, lustrous petals that show above-average resistance to rain damage. The fragrance is strong and sweet, winning the ARS James Alexander Gamble Fragrance Award. Its reliability in wet conditions and excellent vase life make it a practical as well as beautiful choice. Growing to 1–1.3m in an upright, compact habit, it is easily managed in most garden situations. Full sun and well-drained soil bring out the best performance. Standard hybrid tea pruning applies: cutting back to one-third in winter and lightly in summer to prepare for a strong autumn flowering.
