What is Breeder Verification?
BreederDirect requires all breeders to be verified. This system protects buyers and ensures a trustworthy trading environment.
In live animal trading, buyer confidence is paramount. Through verification, we confirm care knowledge, management ability, and legal compliance to maintain platform quality.

Verification Process
Verification is completed in 3 steps:
Register as a Breeder
Create an account and apply in one step. Sign up with your email address. Enter your business name, categories, and prefecture.
Document Review
Our team reviews your application and documents. Typically completed within 1 business day.
Verified & Ready to List
Once approved, you receive a verified badge and can start listing. Buyers pay you directly (bank transfer, cash, etc.); after a deal closes, report it from the dashboard and BreederDirect invoices the commission.
Required Documents & Conditions
All Categories (Required)
- Track record as a breeder (breeding history, etc.)
- Overview of care facilities (photos preferred)
Regulated Categories (Reptiles, Birds, etc.)
- Type 1 Animal Handling Business registration(Sales registration required)
- Name of the animal handling supervisor
- Registration number and expiration date
Non-Regulated Categories (Corals, Fish, etc.)
- Animal handling registration is not required
- Review based on care experience and breeding history
- CITES permits may be required for regulated species
What the "Verified" badge means
- Our team has reviewed the application (breeding record and facility overview).
- For animal-handling categories (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small animals) we have checked the Type 1 animal handling business certificate, registration number and expiry date.
Verification is not a guarantee by BreederDirect of any animal's health, pedigree, contract terms or warranty. Confirm those with the seller for each animal.

Begin listing immediately after verification. Listing is free with success-based fees only.
Messaging
Respond directly to buyer inquiries. Good communication builds reputation and repeat customers.
Get Paid Directly
You receive the sale price directly from the buyer. BreederDirect holds no funds and charges no payment-processing fee. The commission (5% of the sale price plus tax) is invoiced after you report the deal.

Q. How long does breeder verification take?
Our team reviews applications, typically within 1 business day.
Q. Can I get verified without animal handling registration?
For categories not requiring animal handling registration (corals, fish, etc.), yes. However, for reptiles, birds, etc., registration is mandatory.
Q. Can I update my information after verification?
Yes, you can update information from your dashboard. However, changes to critical information like registration numbers may require re-review.
Q. Can verification be revoked?
Yes, in cases of terms violations, false information, or serious buyer complaints. We always contact the breeder before revocation.
