The New Caledonian crocodile gecko (Correlophus ciliatus group / Rhacodactylus family) is a small gecko from New Caledonia related to the crested gecko and gargoyle gecko. It is named for the distinctly keeled, crocodile-skin-like scales covering its body, which give it a rougher texture than its relatives. Adults typically measure 10–12 cm. The coloration is generally brown to grey, offering effective camouflage in its forested habitat. Like other New Caledonian geckos, it is arboreal and does well in tall, humid terrariums with temperatures kept at 22–26°C — high temperatures above 28°C are harmful. Humidity should be maintained at 70–80%. Diet consists of insects supplemented with commercial crested gecko diet. Captive-bred individuals are available and recommended.
