關於這種疾病
A medical emergency in which internal tissues such as the rectum, reproductive organs, or bladder protrude through the cloaca. Exposed tissue is prone to drying out and necrosis, making prompt treatment essential.
主要症狀
- Red or pink tissue protruding from the cloaca
- Straining or difficulty defecating
- Loss of appetite and lethargy
- Drying or discoloration of the prolapsed tissue if left untreated
主要原因
- Excessive straining due to intestinal parasites or diarrhea
- Increased abdominal pressure from constipation or egg retention
- Weakened abdominal muscles from dehydration or malnutrition
- Inflammation of the digestive tract or reproductive organs from injury or infection
預防(飼養環境與日常照護)
Conduct regular fecal testing for intestinal parasites and address issues early. Maintain digestive health through adequate hydration and a species-appropriate diet. Provide a suitable nesting site during the breeding season to prevent increased abdominal pressure from egg retention. Observe defecation patterns regularly and address any abnormalities promptly.

A veterinarian will identify the type of prolapsed tissue (rectum, reproductive organs, bladder, etc.) and assess its viability. If the prolapse is mild and detected early, manual reduction may be attempted. Surgical intervention may be necessary if the tissue is necrotic or manual reduction is not possible. Investigation and treatment of the underlying cause, such as parasites or constipation, will also be conducted.
