The Sakura Wakin is a Wakin—the basic goldfish type—showing the nacreous (translucent) scale trait, named for the soft pink-and-white coloration that arises as the internal red glows faintly through the translucent scales, recalling cherry petals. Unlike vivid solid red or sarasa fish, it has a pale, gentle palette, and combined with the Wakin's slim, carp-like body it offers a simple yet springlike, refined beauty. The Wakin is among the hardiest and easiest goldfish to keep, and the Sakura Wakin is likewise cold-hardy and beginner-friendly. It suits a roomy tank (60 liters or more) or an outdoor pond or water garden; being omnivorous, feed mainly prepared foods supplemented with bloodworms or daphnia. As an active swimmer it pairs best with other hardy, active Wakin-type fish and should not be kept with slow varieties.
