Rare goldfish from Aichi prefecture. Ideal form has white body with red fins only (rokurin coloring). Strict show standards.
The Jikin, also known as the Peacock Tail goldfish, is a distinctive Japanese breed originating from the Nagoya area of Aichi Prefecture. Its most celebrated feature is the symmetrical tail fin that spreads horizontally into four sections, forming a cross or peacock-tail shape when viewed from above. The breed's hallmark coloration, called "Rokurin" (six scales), specifies that only six points on the body—the lips, gill covers, and the tips of each fin—should be red, with the rest of the body a pure silver-white. Achieving and maintaining this precise pattern is the central challenge of breeding and keeping Jikin. Color development is aided by controlled sun exposure. The Jikin is a relatively active fish suited to solo or paired keeping in tanks of at least 60 liters. It remains a rare and carefully preserved breed, with dedicated enthusiast clubs primarily concentrated in the Nagoya region.
