Dwarf Hotot Rabbit

The Dwarf Hotot is a small rabbit breed developed in the 1970s–80s through crosses between the Blanc de Hotot and the Netherland Dwarf. Adults measure 25–30 cm and weigh 1.0–1.4 kg. Their most striking characteristic is their coat pattern: the body is entirely pure white, with a narrow band of dark coloring (the 'eyeband') surrounding each eye, resembling precisely applied eyeliner. Their lively, playful temperament means they require adequate space and daily exercise despite their small size; a cage of at least 60 cm width with regular free-roaming time is recommended. Diet consists of unlimited timothy hay, species-appropriate pellets, and fresh vegetables. Their compact head structure can predispose them to dental malocclusion, a concern that should be monitored throughout their life. Other common health concerns include GI stasis and fractures (due to fine bone structure). Lifespan is 7–10 years.
