🔎 按症状查找
关于这种疾病
In rabbits, guinea pigs, and related species, teeth grow continuously throughout life. If the upper and lower teeth do not align properly, overgrowth and spur formation can occur, causing eating difficulties and oral pain. Both incisors and molars can be affected.
主要症状
- Drooling or wet chin and mouth area
- Decreased appetite and weight loss
- Avoidance of hard foods
- Attempts to eat but appears unable to chew or swallow properly
主要原因
- Insufficient chewing due to inadequate hay intake
- Genetic jaw or tooth conformation
- Tooth fracture or displacement from trauma
- Age-related changes in dental alignment
预防(饲养环境与日常护理)
Providing unlimited high-fiber hay such as timothy at all times is the most important preventive measure, as it promotes natural tooth wear. Avoid over-reliance on pellets or soft foods. Regular weight monitoring and close observation of appetite and eating behavior enable early detection of changes.

A veterinarian will assess the dental condition through oral examination, endoscopy, or X-rays, and perform procedures to address overgrown teeth or spurs. Anesthesia is often required, and regular maintenance at intervals of weeks to months may be necessary.
