关于这种疾病

A severe gastrointestinal disease common in hamsters caused by bacterial infection and inflammation of the small intestine, leading to profuse diarrhea and rapid dehydration. It is most frequent in recently weaned young hamsters and can be fatal within days.

主要症状

  • Wet and soiled fur around the tail and anal area
  • Profuse watery diarrhea
  • Lethargy and hunched posture
  • Complete loss of appetite and rapid weight loss

主要原因

  • Proliferation of intestinal bacteria such as Lawsonia intracellularis
  • Stress from weaning, transport, or environmental change
  • Unhygienic cage conditions
  • Overcrowding

预防(饲养环境与日常护理)

Minimize stress during the settling-in period by keeping newly acquired hamsters in a quiet location. Keep the cage and bedding clean and avoid overcrowding. When introducing a new hamster, house it separately for an observation period to prevent potential spread to other animals.
