永吉表孔珊瑚(绿液珊瑚)

The Yongei Acropora, commonly known as the Green Slimer, is a branching stony coral first described by Veron and Wallace in 1984. It's popular in the aquarium trade for its vivid green coloration and is also recognized under its WoRMS common name, the Bali Green Stony Coral. In the wild it grows at depths of roughly 5 to 20 meters, forming intricate branching colonies that stand out in any reef tank. Like many Acropora species, it's sensitive to fluctuations in water quality, lighting, and flow, which is why it's generally considered a coral for experienced reefkeepers. A stable, well-established tank goes a long way toward success with this species.

关于永吉表孔珊瑚(绿液珊瑚)

The Yongei Acropora ("Green Slimer") is a branching stony coral described in 1984, known for its vivid green color. Here's what to know about its care difficulty, key traits, and common questions before adding one to your reef.

迎接永吉表孔珊瑚(绿液珊瑚)前需要了解的7件事

  1. 1Advanced-Level Care

The Yongei Acropora is considered a coral for experienced reefkeepers, requiring stable water quality, lighting, and flow. It's best introduced to a mature, well-established tank rather than a newly cycled or unstable one.

  2. 2Needs Strong, Even Flow

Moderate, turbulent water flow that reaches the entire branching structure is important for this coral. Uneven flow can slow tip growth or affect tissue condition on shaded parts of the colony.

  3. 3Requires Bright Lighting

Like most Acropora, this species tends to prefer strong lighting, and adequate light plus proper placement help maintain its green coloration. Acclimate it gradually to your tank's lighting rather than placing it directly under intense light right after arrival.

  4. 4Known for Green Coloration

True to its trade name "Green Slimer," vivid green coloration is its main visual appeal. Color intensity can vary between individual colonies and tank conditions, so the same species may look different from one reef to another.

  5. 5Stable Water Parameters

Acropora corals are sensitive to sudden shifts in water chemistry, so regularly testing calcium, alkalinity, and trace elements — and avoiding large swings — is fundamental to keeping this species. Water changes and dosing should be introduced gradually rather than in big adjustments.

  6. 6Careful Acclimation on Arrival

Newly arrived corals are especially vulnerable to stress from environmental changes, so temperature and water parameters should be matched slowly before placement. Start it in a spot with gentler flow and lighting, then move it toward its ideal placement as it settles in.

  7. 7Branching Skeletal Structure

First described by Veron and Wallace in 1984, this species is valued for its branching skeletal form. As it grows, the branches become denser, adding visual volume to a reef layout over time.

永吉表孔珊瑚(绿液珊瑚)的常见问题

Q.Is this coral suitable for beginners?
A.The Yongei Acropora is generally considered a coral for experienced reefkeepers. It's best kept in a stable, well-established tank once you're comfortable managing water quality, lighting, and flow.
Q.Where does the name "Green Slimer" come from?
A.It comes from the vivid green coloration commonly seen in specimens sold under this trade name. WoRMS also lists it under the common name "Bali Green Stony Coral."
Q.What depth does it naturally live at?
A.In the wild, it's typically found at depths of around 5 to 20 meters. Replicating similar lighting and flow conditions in the aquarium helps support healthy growth.
Q.Where's the best spot to place it in a reef tank?
A.A location with ample light and flow suits this coral well. Since newly introduced corals need time to acclimate, start it in a milder spot and adjust placement gradually as it settles in.
Q.Is this coral subject to CITES regulation?
A.The Yongei Acropora (Green Slimer) is not subject to CITES. There is no international trade convention listing for this species.
