Kalanchoe tomentosa
A cute succulent with fuzzy leaves like rabbit ears. Brown spots along leaf edges.
Kalanchoe tomentosa (Panda Plant, Pussy Ears) is a succulent native to Madagascar, widely cultivated for its striking velvety appearance. Dense fine white hairs cover the entire plant, with brown to dark spots along the leaf margins, lending the plant a distinctive panda-like look. Numerous cultivars have been developed, including 'Chocolate Soldier', 'Golden Girl', 'Black Tie', and 'Teddy Bear', differing in hair color and margin markings. Plants grow slowly to 30–60 cm in height. They prefer bright light to full sun and should be watered only when the soil is completely dry to prevent root rot. Water should be directed at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the hairs, which can trap moisture and cause staining. Minimum temperature of 5°C is required for overwintering. Propagation by stem cuttings is straightforward.
