Echeveria ʽBlack Prince’
An echeveria with mystical nearly-black deep purple rosette. Outstanding presence among succulents.
Echeveria 'Black Prince' is a hybrid of E. shaviana and E. affinis, producing dramatic rosettes of near-black, deep purple-brown leaves—the darkest coloration among widely available Echeveria cultivars. The intensity of the dark color is directly dependent on sun exposure; full direct sun produces the deepest tones, while shade causes significant greening. Rosettes mature to 8–15 cm across. Red flowers are borne on tall stalks in spring and autumn. Growth rate is slow to moderate, and offsets are occasionally produced. Standard care applies: full sun, well-draining soil, and minimal watering with complete drying between sessions. Summer heat combined with poor air circulation risks crown rot. Cold tolerance is approximately 3–5°C. Propagation by leaf cuttings or offsets is possible.
