Pristinella
Delicate ivory-white with a blush of pink. Large blooms over 14cm with 25-30 petals. Clean high-centered form earns high marks in shows. Moderate spicy fragrance.
Bred by Warriner for Jackson & Perkins (USA) in 1978, 'Pristine' lives up to its name with blooms of unusual delicacy: ivory-white petals very lightly edged in blush-pink create a coloring that appears immaculately clean, even ethereal. At 14cm or more across with 25–30 petals arranged in a perfect high-centered exhibition form, the blooms are among the finest of their class on the show bench. A moderate, pleasantly spicy fragrance accompanies the flowers. Petals are susceptible to spotting from water contact, making it important to water at the base of the plant and avoid overhead irrigation where possible. Disease resistance is otherwise good, with air circulation the primary preventive requirement. The 1.2–1.5m plant is well suited to formal garden settings and bridal or ceremonial uses where an impeccably pure white is required.
