Yozakura (Night Cherry Blossom) medaka is a fantastical improved variety with blue-black body scattered with pink-to-purple lame, named for its resemblance to cherry blossoms blooming against a night sky. The unique combination of dark body color and pink/purple lame gives it an atmosphere found in no other variety. Dark containers best evoke the enchanting night-blossom image by highlighting the lame colors. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water. Large individual variation in lame coloration (pink, purple, gold mixtures) means careful selection is essential for quality maintenance. LED lighting makes the lame particularly stunning.
