The harlequin tuskfish (Choerodon fasciatus) is a medium-to-large wrasse of the family Labridae found in the western Pacific. Its boldly striped pattern of blue, orange, and white, together with the protruding bluish tusk-like teeth that give it its name, are its hallmark features. It uses these robust teeth to crush the hard shells of urchins, mollusks, and crustaceans. Despite its imposing look it is relatively non-aggressive toward fish and can be housed with tankmates of similar or larger size, though shrimp and snails will be eaten. As an active swimmer it is best kept in a large aquarium; hardy and a good eater, it is a popular species accessible even to intermediate keepers.
