The Tancho is a goldfish with a pure-white body crowned by a single vivid red wen on the head, named for the way its coloring recalls the red-crowned Japanese crane whose head alone is red—a refined and popular variety. A color variant built on the Oranda body type, its very simplicity—white body, red cap—makes the clarity of the red-and-white contrast and the depth, roundness, and clean outline of the red the keys to appreciation and judging. The body is rounded with longer tail fins and the fish swims gently.
