Chakin

The Chakin (Chocolate Goldfish) is a rare and distinctive goldfish variety prized for its unusual brown or chocolate-colored body—a coloration seldom seen among goldfish. The warm brown tones shift between reddish-brown and deep chocolate depending on the lighting, giving the fish a subtly rich visual quality. Body shape tends toward the rounded egg-form of Oranda or Ranchu types, and some individuals lack a dorsal fin. The Chakin is a gentle, slow swimmer well-suited to a calm aquarium environment with other docile varieties. Tanks of 30–45 liters or more are appropriate, with stable water temperature of 18–25°C and neutral pH maintained through regular water changes. Providing high-quality, balanced nutrition and appropriate lighting helps maintain the depth and richness of the characteristic chocolate coloration. The Chakin is not widely available and is typically found at specialist goldfish dealers.
