About
Haworthia fasciata (Zebra Plant) is a succulent native to the Cape Province of South Africa, recognized by its dark green, rigid leaves marked with distinctive white horizontal bands of raised tubercles on the outer surface. The inner leaf surfaces are smooth and unmarked. Mature rosettes are 5–15 cm across and produce offsets freely. Like most Haworthias, it thrives in bright indirect light rather than direct sun, making it one of the most suitable succulents for indoor cultivation. Watering should be moderate with the soil allowed to dry between sessions; overwatering is the primary risk. Cold tolerance is approximately 5°C. The species is widely available, inexpensive, and extremely robust, making it one of the best entry-level succulents. Propagation is by offsets, leaf cuttings, or seed. It is sometimes confused with H. attenuata, which has tubercles on both leaf surfaces.
