Echeveria lilacina
A Mexican native echeveria with an elegant overall lilac hue. White powdery leaves have earned it the nickname ‘Ghost Echeveria’.
Echeveria lilacina (Ghost Echeveria) is a species native to Nuevo León state in northeast Mexico, prized for its ethereal beauty: all leaves are coated in a dense powdery bloom that gives the entire rosette a uniform pale lilac to pearl-grey color. It is considered one of the most elegant Echeveria species in cultivation and is widely sought by collectors worldwide. Rosettes mature to 8–15 cm across and are typically single-headed, producing few offsets. The fine bloom is easily marked by water droplets, so bottom watering or careful base application is recommended. Full sun promotes the most vivid lilac tones, particularly in cooler months. Watering should be conservative with complete soil drying between sessions; summer humidity requires attentive management. Cold tolerance is approximately 3–5°C. Propagation by leaf cuttings or stem cuttings is possible but growth is slow. The species is also an important parent in hybrid breeding, including the popular 'Laurinze'.
