A water lily relative with beautiful green leaves. Becomes focal point when placed in midground.
Nymphaea lotus 'Green' is a bulbous aquatic plant in the family Nymphaeaceae, native to Africa and Southeast Asia, representing a green-selected variety of Tiger Lotus. The submerged leaves are large heart-to-round-shaped bright translucent green leaves that display beautiful luminescence depending on light direction. It grows vigorously from the bulb, continuously extending leaves toward the water surface. Regularly removing floating leaves as they reach the surface promotes submerged leaf growth and allows for more three-dimensional layouts. A hardy plant that grows without CO2, it thrives with medium lighting and solid substrate fertilizer. As a single dramatic focal point in the background to midground, it commands a presence unlike any other aquatic plant. Optimal water temperature is 22–28°C.
