A fern with beautiful pinnate delicate leaves. Versatile plant that grows floating or planted.
Ceratopteris thalictroides is a fern distributed widely across tropical and subtropical regions, also known as Water Sprite. When submerged, it bears delicate deeply pinnate leaves that sway gracefully near the water surface. Highly versatile, it can be grown submerged, floating, or emersed; when floated on the surface, its roots absorb nutrients and contribute to water quality improvement. Adventitious plantlets (daughter plants) arise naturally along leaf margins, making it easy to maintain long-term once established. Grows without CO2 under medium or stronger lighting, suitable for beginners. Fast-growing and thriving even in nutrient-rich water, it also helps absorb excess nutrients. Optimal water temperature is 24–28°C.
