Orange lame medaka is a gorgeous improved variety combining orange body color with iridophore-derived lame scales sparkling across the body. Its warm shimmer, like sunlight reflecting off the evening sea, pairs orange body color with glittering lame to create warmth and luxury simultaneously. Many strains combine Youkihi-lineage orange body color with lame traits. Dark containers best showcase the lame sparkle. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water. Regular carotenoid-rich color-enhancing food maintains orange coloration. Selective breeding of densely lame-covered individuals maintains and improves lame quality.
