Kirameki (Sparkle) medaka is a premium improved variety with multicolor lame — blue, gold, pink, silver, and more — scattered across the body, shifting through rainbow colors as light angle changes. The name Kirameki perfectly describes its dazzling chief attraction. Various body color bases exist (black, white, blue) chosen to best highlight the multicolor lame. Very low fixation rate makes producing ideal multicolor lame individuals a pursuit for advanced hobbyists requiring mass breeding and experienced selection. Dark containers under LED lighting best express each lame color. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water, with care and selection being the real skill test.
