The striking contrast between a pure white body like a white rabbit and albino red eyes — blood vessels visible through pigment-free irises — creates an endearing appearance beloved by many enthusiasts. Melanin pigment deficiency produces the white body color. Key care consideration: UV sensitivity means strong direct outdoor sunlight must be avoided; bright indoor keeping is standard. Weaker eyesight than normal individuals means food should be distributed evenly across the water surface, with longer feeding times than other varieties. Avoid housing with aggressive species; albino-to-albino or peaceful community pairing is ideal. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water.
