The High-head Tancho is a tancho-type goldfish with an especially tall, well-developed crown wen; its pure-white body crowned by a single vivid red cap evokes the elegance of a Japanese crane (tancho). Built on the Oranda body type, its appeal and judging rest on the height and shape of the wen and on the vividness and clean outline of the red. Growing the wen tall and beautiful requires clean water and a stable environment, with care taken to keep the wen's grooves free of debris. The simple white body with a single red accent rewards careful management of color contrast. Keep it in a tank of 60 liters or more with strong filtration, regular water changes, and color-conscious feeding. It swims gently and pairs well with similarly calm varieties.
