Agave Truncata

Agave truncata is a medium-sized agave native to highlands between 1,500–2,500 m elevation from Durango to Jalisco, Mexico. As its Latin name suggests ('truncated'), the species is distinguished by unusually wide, short leaves that give the rosette a compact yet powerful sculptural form. The thick, blue-gray leaves overlap densely, with reddish-brown marginal teeth arranged in regular patterns and a stout terminal spine. Mature rosettes reach 40–80 cm in diameter, making it well-suited for container culture. Highly drought-tolerant, it thrives with well-draining soil and ample sunlight, making it accessible even for beginners. Though moderately slow-growing, the species develops an increasingly impressive, weighty presence with age, attracting growing collector interest.
