Uno-line Ranchu is a goldfish lineage selectively bred by Kyoto ceramic artist Hitomatsu Uno, guided by his own distinctive aesthetic sense. Unlike association-line Ranchu, which tend to favor larger body size, this line places greater emphasis on the development of the head wen and the beauty of coloration, giving it a refined character all its own. It's considered a breed for experienced keepers, but that same demand rewards patient care — the wen's texture and shape shift noticeably as the fish matures, offering keepers something to observe and appreciate over time. 1Wen and Color Over Body Size
Unlike association-line Ranchu, the Uno line doesn't prioritize a large body. It has been selectively bred with an emphasis on head wen development and coloration beauty. When choosing an individual, focus on these two traits rather than overall size.
2Suited to Experienced Keepers
Uno-line Ranchu is considered an advanced-difficulty variety. It's best to have solid experience with water quality management and spotting subtle health changes before bringing one home.
3Grows to About 15cm
Adults reach a body length of about 15cm. Prepare a tank or pond with enough room to accommodate this eventual size from the start.
