Syngonium

Syngonium is a genus of vining plants in the family Araceae, native to tropical rainforests from southern Mexico and the West Indies through Central and South America. A distinctive feature is the dramatic change in leaf shape as the plant matures: juvenile plants have simple arrowhead-shaped leaves, while adult leaves develop into deeply lobed, multi-fingered forms. Foliage colour varies widely across cultivars, from solid green to white-variegated, pink, and cream. The trailing stems can be trained up a support or allowed to cascade for a hanging display. It prefers bright indirect light but tolerates lower light well. Water when the soil is partially dry, maintaining moderate moisture. Easily propagated from stem cuttings in water or soil. Hardy, versatile, and available in a wide range of colour forms, syngonium is a popular and rewarding houseplant for all levels of experience.
