Adenium Obesum

Adenium obesum, commonly known as the Desert Rose, is a succulent plant native to the arid savannas and rocky terrain of East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Its most distinctive feature is the swollen, bottle-shaped caudex at the base, which stores water for survival during dry seasons. The glossy, dark green elliptical leaves are deciduous, dropping during the dry season. Flowers are showy, rose-like, with five petals in shades of pink to deep red, blooming profusely from spring through summer. Growth rate is relatively fast for a caudex plant, making it a popular entry-level species. It requires full sun, well-draining soil, and generous watering during the growing season with near-total drought during winter. Frost-sensitive, it must be kept above 5°C.
