The common hill myna, or hill mynah, is a member of the starling family Sturnidae. It is a resident breeder in the hilly regions of South and Southeast Asia. The hill mynah is highly regarded for its exceptional ability to mimic human speech with remarkable clarity and tonal accuracy. Its glossy black plumage and vivid yellow facial wattles make it visually striking as well as vocally talented. In captivity it requires a fruit-based diet and is particularly susceptible to iron-storage disease.
