Amazon parrots are a group of medium to large parrots in the genus Amazona, native to the Americas, primarily from Mexico and Central America through South America. They are characterised predominantly by green plumage with contrasting patches of colour on the head and wings. Amazon parrots are renowned for their vocal abilities, including a talent for mimicking speech and songs, and are among the most popular large parrots kept as pets worldwide.
