Hydrocotyle tripartita
A cute aquatic plant with clover-like trifoliate leaves. Grows horizontally, ideal for midground.
Hydrocotyle tripartita is an aquatic plant from the family Apiaceae, native to Southeast Asia and Australia. Its most distinctive feature is the densely packed, three-lobed clover-shaped leaves that spread in a low-growing creeping manner, making it widely used as a mid-to-foreground green carpet in aquascaping. It propagates vigorously by runners, spreading horizontally with enough vigor to cover an entire tank if left untrimmed. CO2 addition accelerates growth and keeps leaves smaller and more compact. Medium or higher lighting is sufficient, and supplementing with liquid or substrate fertilizers promotes healthy growth. Optimal water temperature is 22–28°C. Its charming form and layout versatility make it a frequent choice in Nature Aquarium competition aquascapes.
