The fragrance is a strong, classic Damask, and 'Intrigue' is one of a small number of roses to have received recognition for both color and scent. The depth of its coloring creates striking contrast when planted alongside lighter roses, making it a valuable component in planned color schemes. Growing to 0.8–1.2m, it tends toward dense branching; regular thinning for air circulation is important for disease prevention.
