Rosa ‘Louise Odier’
A celebrated Bourbon rose from 1851. Warm pink rounded cupped blooms in continuous succession. Rich Damask fragrance typical of Bourbons. Repeat-blooming, grown as shrub or trained as climber.
Bred by Margottin (France) in 1851, 'Louise Odier' is one of the finest Bourbon roses, admired for its perfectly formed, warm rose-pink cupped blooms in which the petals arrange themselves in precise, concentric layers. The rich Damask fragrance is characteristic of the Bourbon class at its best. Unlike many old roses, it repeats its flowering reliably through the season, producing successive flushes from late spring through autumn. Flexible canes of 1.5–2m suit shrub training; in warm climates it can be encouraged to 3m as a climber. It thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive soil with regular organic feeding. Good garden management involves renewing old wood progressively to maintain the vigor and flowering quality of young replacement canes.
