Haworthia cooperi
A haworthia with dense translucent round leaves. Beautiful small species shining like jewels when backlit.
Haworthia cooperi is a small, clumping succulent native to the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, prized for its rosettes of short, plump leaves tipped with highly transparent windows that glow when backlit. In the wild, most of the leaf body is buried in soil with only the translucent tip exposed to capture diffuse light—an adaptation replicated in cultivation by maintaining shade conditions. Mature rosettes are 3–8 cm across. The species is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful soft-leaved Haworthias and has inspired extensive hybridization and selection. Bright indirect light is ideal; direct sun degrades the window clarity and causes scorching. Watering should be moderate, allowing the soil to dry between sessions. The plant's shade tolerance makes it an excellent choice for indoor growing. Cold hardiness is to approximately 5°C.
