Monstera adansonii
Smaller monstera variety. Nicknamed Swiss cheese vine for distinctive holey leaves resembling cheese.
Monstera adansonii, known as the Swiss cheese vine, five holes plant, or Swiss cheese plant (a name shared with M. deliciosa), is a vining plant in the family Araceae, native to tropical rainforests from Mexico to South America. It is distinguished from its more famous relative M. deliciosa by its smaller, more elongated leaves (typically 5–20 cm) perforated with numerous oval holes. Fast-growing and vining, it can be trained up a support or allowed to trail for hanging display. Bright indirect light is preferred; direct sun causes leaf scorch. Water when the soil has dried; avoid overwatering. High humidity promotes healthy growth; mist frequently. Propagates readily from stem cuttings. More compact and manageable than M. deliciosa, the Swiss cheese vine offers a similar tropical, fenestrated-leaf aesthetic in a format suited to smaller spaces.
