Catalaphyllia jardinei
Beautiful LPS with long tentacles tipped in fluorescent colors. Placed on sand bed. Vivid fluorescence is the main attraction.
Elegance coral (Catalaphyllia jardinei, family Euphylliidae) is admired for its long, fleshy, flowing tentacles—some tipped with fluorescent balls—that give colonies an exceptionally graceful appearance. Native to sandy and muddy reef slopes of the western Pacific, it should be placed directly on the sand bed rather than mounted on rock. Coloration ranges from green and white to pink and fluorescent green. Sand-dwelling specimens generally acclimate more readily than reef-dwelling ones. Moderate lighting (150–250 PAR) and gentle flow allow full tentacle extension; occasional target feeding with small meaty foods promotes vibrant health.
