Nephthea, also known as Tree Coral, is a soft coral that grows in a branching, tree-like form. Its texture is more supple than the similar-looking Kenya Tree Coral, swaying gracefully in the water current to bring natural movement to an aquarium. Green and brown are the most common colors, blending well into calm, naturalistic layouts. It is hardy and grows quickly, making it approachable even for those new to soft coral keeping. Lacking a hard skeleton, its entirely soft, flexible texture gives it a distinct look compared to many other corals.

1Sways Gracefully in Current
Its branching polyp colonies sway gently in the water flow, which is part of its appeal. Avoid placing it directly in strong current, as this can distort its shape — moderate, indirect flow works best.
2Moderate Lighting Is Enough
It photosynthesizes through symbiotic zooxanthellae, but doesn't require extremely intense lighting. It grows well under moderate light levels, making it easy to combine with other tankmates.
