Agave Parrasana

Agave parrasana, commonly known as the cabbage head agave, is a small to medium-sized species native to the limestone mountains of the Sierra de Parras in Coahuila, Mexico, at elevations of 1,500–3,000 m. Its broad, rounded blue-gray leaves overlap tightly to form a remarkably compact, cabbage-like globular rosette that is the hallmark of this species. Prominent reddish-brown to dark purple marginal teeth contrast beautifully against the dense leaf color. Mature rosettes reach 50–80 cm in diameter, remaining manageable in containers. Owing to its high-altitude origins, it tolerates cold down to approximately -10°C. With well-draining soil and full sun, cultivation is straightforward, making it a staple favorite among agave collectors worldwide.
