Roles of Foreground, Midground, and Background

Aquascaping divides the tank into three zones to create depth.

Foreground (Front) - **Role**: Covers the tank floor beautifully, creating a natural carpet - **Recommended plants**: Glossostigma, Hairgrass, Cobra Grass - **Key point**: Choose low-growing plants to maintain an open feel

Midground (Center) - **Role**: Connects foreground and background. Place focal elements here - **Recommended plants**: Anubias Nana, Bucephalandra, Cryptocoryne - **Key point**: Combining with driftwood and rocks adds dimension

Background (Rear) - **Role**: Adds height and volume to the tank - **Recommended plants**: Rotala, Ammannia, Hygrophila, Vallisneria - **Key point**: Tall-growing plants emphasize depth

Three Composition Patterns

Triangle Composition One side is tall, tapering down to the opposite side. Easy to balance and beginner-friendly.

Convex (Island) Composition Center is highest with both sides lower. Expresses mountain or island-like natural landscapes.

Concave (Valley) Composition Both sides are tall with the center kept open and low. Creates strong depth and provides swimming space for fish.
