Aglaonema

Aglaonema, the Chinese evergreen, is a genus of perennials in the family Araceae, native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia and India. Cultivated in a vast range of colourful varieties — from deep green with silver markings to vivid reds, hot pinks, and creamy whites — it has earned the reputation as one of the most ornamentally diverse foliage plants available. Its exceptional shade tolerance makes it adaptable to the widest range of indoor light conditions of virtually any houseplant, though more colourful varieties benefit from brighter indirect light. Direct sun causes leaf scorch. Water after the soil dries; reduce frequency in winter. Cold-sensitive: maintain temperatures above 15°C. Recognised in NASA's Clean Air Study for its effectiveness in removing indoor air pollutants. Widely used in commercial and office environments for its combination of beauty, low maintenance, and air-purifying properties.
