Schefflera

Schefflera is a genus of flowering plants in the family Araliaceae, with species native to New Zealand, Taiwan, and various Pacific islands. Commonly known as the umbrella tree or octopus tree, it is immediately recognisable by its palmately compound leaves — multiple glossy leaflets radiating outward like the spokes of an umbrella. Among the most shade-tolerant of all houseplants, scheffleras adapt well to interior environments with limited natural light, though they grow most vigorously in bright indirect conditions. Water thoroughly when the soil has dried, as overwatering is the primary cause of problems. Growth is moderate; regular pruning is recommended to maintain a compact, bushy shape.
