Frogspawn Coral

Frogspawn coral (Euphyllia divisa, family Euphylliidae) takes its name from the branched, rounded tentacle tips that resemble amphibian egg masses. Native to reef slopes of Indo-Pacific islands, it occurs in branching and wall-type colony forms, with tentacles in green, tan, and gold fluorescent hues. Alongside torch and hammer coral, it forms the celebrated Euphyllia trio prized in reef aquaria. Moderate lighting (150–250 PAR) and gentle indirect flow are optimal; its potent sweeper tentacles demand ample spacing from neighboring corals. Stable alkalinity and temperature, supplemented by occasional target feeding, ensure robust long-term growth.
