Pachypodium horombense is native to the Horombe Plateau in southern Madagascar. It is distinguished by its beautiful silver-gray trunk and large yellow flowers, with a tendency to branch more readily than some relatives. Leaves are narrow and glossy. Growth is slow but it is considered relatively accommodating in cultivation. Full sun, extremely porous soil, generous watering during growth, and complete winter drought are standard. Keep above 10°C in winter. The silver trunk texture and showy yellow flowers at bloom make it an attractive and popular addition to collections.
