Pearlscale Goldfish

The Pearlscale (Chinshurin) is a Chinese fancy goldfish variety celebrated for its dome-shaped, raised scales that shimmer like individual pearls against its nearly spherical body. Among goldfish, the Pearlscale has one of the most rounded body forms, which, combined with its lustrous scales, creates a striking ornamental appearance. This body shape makes the Pearlscale particularly vulnerable to swim bladder disorder (buoyancy problems), a condition that can be managed by feeding small amounts of sinking, easily digestible food and maintaining stable water temperatures between 20–25°C. Damaged scales will not regain their raised form, so the aquarium should be free of sharp objects and have smooth, fine substrate. Pearlscales are slow, peaceful fish best kept in low-flow tanks of 40 liters or more.
