Intrigue

Bred by Warriner for Jackson & Perkins (USA) in 1984 and an AARS winner, 'Intrigue' is a floribunda that earns its name through an unusual and sophisticated color — deep plum to dark magenta with ruffled petal edges that give the blooms a distinctive, somewhat mysterious character. The fragrance is a strong, classic Damask, and 'Intrigue' is one of a small number of roses to have received recognition for both color and scent. The depth of its coloring creates striking contrast when planted alongside lighter roses, making it a valuable component in planned color schemes. Growing to 0.8–1.2m, it tends toward dense branching; regular thinning for air circulation is important for disease prevention. Standard floribunda management applies: one-third winter pruning and consistent deadheading through the season.
