The Munchkin is a breed of cat characterized by its short legs, which are caused by a naturally occurring genetic mutation affecting the long bones of the limbs. The breed was established from cats discovered in Louisiana in the 1980s. Despite their short stature, Munchkins are surprisingly agile and can run and jump, though they may not leap as high as other cats. They come in both short-haired and long-haired varieties, in a wide range of colours and patterns. Munchkins are known for their playful, social, and friendly temperament, getting along well with children and other animals.
