Echeveria chihuahuaensis

Echeveria chihuahuaensis is a species native to Chihuahua state in northern Mexico, forming compact rosettes of glaucous blue-green leaves coated in white bloom, with vivid red to pink tips that intensify in cool temperatures and strong light. Mature rosettes reach 8–12 cm across. As a wild species, it is relatively robust compared to many cultivars. Full sun brings out the strongest red tip coloration. The powdery coating marks easily when wet, so water should be applied at the base. Conservative watering with complete soil drying between sessions is essential, and good air circulation should be maintained during the humid summer months. Cold tolerance is approximately 3–5°C. Propagation by leaf cuttings or offsets is straightforward. The species is regarded as one of the classic red-tipped Echeveria and is a popular choice among both newcomers and specialist collectors.
