Lady of Shalott

Bred by David Austin (UK) in 2009 and named after Tennyson's celebrated lyrical ballad, 'The Lady of Shalott' brings a similarly romantic character to the garden. Its warm, chalice-shaped blooms in glowing salmon-orange with golden yellow reverses are produced with exceptional freedom and continuity from spring through autumn. The fragrance is a pleasant, warm Tea rose scent with hints of spice. Disease resistance is outstanding — among the best of all English Roses — making it a leading recommendation for gardeners seeking minimal-spray performance. The upright, branching habit reaches 1.2–1.5m and adapts readily to partial shade without significant loss of bloom quality. Light winter pruning to one-third maintains the natural, open form.
